This year I did an “oui for me” Memorial Day weekend. I joined friends in Tokyo to experience the Sumo tournament championship. This traditional Japanese sport started as a Shinto ritual and has kept many of those elements. What truly amazed me as a physician was the incredible flexibility of these huge athletes. Admittedly, watching these giants fall into the first row of spectators made me thankful to be seated a bit further back.
While in Tokyo I enjoyed time with friends, great food, and the chance to check out Japanese skin care. I even had a “discussion” with a robot in-care specialist. And of course, I always feel at home in Tokyo when I see all of the women working on sun protection with their parasols.
