Aging Gracefully: The Benjamin Button Effect
People frequently complain ‘aging stinks!’ True, it isn’t easy, but it is better than the alternative. And, barring death, we all age. The question is how to do it. Does ‘Aging Gracefully’ mean you have to accept biology? Does being a given chronologic age mean you have to look like your parents or grandparents did at that age? I say no.
Today we have lots of options to rejuvenate and maintain our health and appearance. And we have a lot of reasons to do so. We are retiring later, being pushed into the dating world again and again, and there’s the issue of high definition videos and selfies. Going to the gym and eating healthy foods to keep your body fit, getting your hair colored or a regular neat haircut and shave or manicure to keep your look professional and having noninvasive cosmetic procedures have all become part of routine self-maintenance and part of aging gracefully.
“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is a short story published by F Scott Fitzgerald in 1922 which was made into a movie with Brad Pitt in 2008. It tells the tale of a man who ages backward.
One of the best compliments you can receive is to be told ‘You look younger every time I see you!’ Credit healthy living, happiness, peace and love, or tell them you have a great dermatologist, but most of all, feel good about you! Your secret is safe with us.
